Republic of Ireland striker who joined the Royals from Cork City with Kevin Doyle.
Having seen the departures of Doyle, Lita and Kitson, many had hoped Long would step up to join Noel Hunt as our first choice strike force. However, he was unable to make an impact on the side under Brendan Rodgers.
Having often been unfortunate to be kept out of the side by Doyle, Kitson and Lita, Shane will now be hoping to prove himself in 2010 – making a good start by grabbing the winning goal in an FA Cup Third Round Replay at Anfield.
